Russell Maddox, CPA

Russell is a member of AAFCPAs’ Business Process & IT Consulting practice, where he assists clients with business process assessment, system selection, and implementation. Prior to joining AAFCPAs, Russell led the accounting software implementation team in his previous role, concentrating on harnessing cloud and web-based platforms to efficiently and effectively cater to clients’ needs. A proven accounting manager, he brings a strong background in finance, accounting, and client management along with Intacct, gross profit/general ledger analysis, and lean logistics principles.

Russell works closely with clients to understand their business environment, processes, vision, and operational strategy. Performing a comprehensive system audit, Russell assesses and identifies operational risk, process gaps, integration issues, and workflow inefficiencies. Should clients determine their existing system is not capable of supporting process design changes or if they need features beyond what their current system provides, he interviews key user groups and conducts current process discovery sessions to define intended functionality required to satisfy user and company needs.

Russell advises clients on ways to implement pragmatic changes that can deliver an immediate impact, eliminating manual work and helping decision-makers react faster. Recommendations aim to enhance data accuracy, minimize redundancy, improve efficiency and internal controls, and cut cost through automation. He guides clients through system selection and implementation, synthesizing data connections, designing their chart of accounts, and helping clients see and understand their data through easy-to-understand dashboards and data visualization models.

Russell holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in both accounting and finance from the University of Louisville. He currently resides in Louisville, Kentucky and enjoys AAFCPAs’ Work from Anywhere model. He has been recognized for his leadership and team motivational skills since his years as his high school’s swim and cross country coach.
