About the Authors

Burke-Rory
Rory is responsible for providing assurance, tax, and advisory solutions for diverse nonprofit organizations, including: community development corporations (CDCs) and their affordable housing projects, Community Development Finance Institutions (CDFIs), charter schools & charter management organizations, multiservice human & social service providers, and behavioral health providers. Rory ensures a positive, and unobtrusive audit experience for clients, with a focus on internal controls and risk management. He has extensive experience in providing assurance solutions in accordance with Uniform Guidance/Single Audit and Government Auditing Standards, as well as those with Massachusetts Uniform Financial Statement (UFR) filing requirements. He advises clients on upcoming regulatory changes to determine potential impact, including the revenue recognition standards, lease accounting, and changes to the Statement of Cash Flows. He also advises clients on the impact of changing UFR regulations, interpreting program results, and the importance of cost allocation methodologies on outcomes.
Lanza-Stephen
Steve provides proactive tax and business advisory services to private, closely-held businesses in a variety of industries, including: construction, manufacturing & distribution, and retail. He specializes in providing federal and state tax planning & compliance for C Corps, S Corps, partnerships & their owners. He advises clients on year-end and multi-year tax planning, including: guidance related to changing tax code; monitoring and forecasting of income and operations in order to avoid year-end surprises; historical and current year activity to ensure accuracy and completeness of federal and state filings; opportunities to maximize federal and state tax credits; and minimizing the impact of the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT).
Legor-Pauline
Pauline is responsible for providing assurance, tax, and advisory solutions for diverse nonprofit organizations, including multiservice human & social service providers, behavioral health providers, community health centers, community development corporations (CDCs) and their affordable housing limited liability companies. Pauline is an active leader in AAFCPAs Healthcare practice, providing guidance to clients on implementing data driven patient care, maximizing reimbursement, and maintaining compliance with 340B drug pricing programs for both on-site and contract pharmacies. She has deep experience with cost report preparation, and insight to clients on revenue statistics, determination of full-time equivalent employees (FTE), expenses and visits, settlement amounts, and the calculation of allowable costs.
Wright-Elizabeth
Liz is responsible for leading high-energy teams in the execution of financial statement assurance engagements for commercial businesses and sophisticated nonprofit organizations. Her commercial experience includes serving clients in: manufacturing, distribution, retail, high tech, software, and professional services. Liz’s nonprofit sector experience includes: arts & cultural, human & social services, and behavioral health.
