Carla McCall, CPA, CGMA, managing partner of AAFCPAs, has been named one of the Boston Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business 2025. Selected from more than 140 nominations, McCall will be honored at an awards luncheon on December 4 at the Hilton Boston Park Plaza in Boston.
The 2025 Icon Awards: A Women Who Mean Business Program celebrates the leadership and contributions of women shaping Greater Boston’s business community. The program celebrates the significant impact honorees have on Greater Boston’s business ecosystem through their leadership in their organizations and communities.
McCall has led AAFCPAs from $16 million in revenue in 2011 to $80 million in 2025 through organic growth. Under her leadership, the firm has expanded its solutions well beyond traditional audit and tax to include outsourced accounting, wealth management, IT and cybersecurity, robotic process automation, AI, and data analytics. She is immediate past-chair of the American Institute of CPAs and immediate past-co-chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, becoming only the seventh woman to lead the AICPA in its 138-year history. McCall has also been named one of Accounting Today’s Top 100 Most Influential People and recognized among the Most Powerful Women in the Accounting Profession for five consecutive years.
Beyond her firm, McCall devotes significant time to mentoring and community initiatives. She has participated in the Boston Business Journal’s Mentoring Monday program since 2018, guiding hundreds of Boston-area professionals. Through AAFCPAs’ 10% Back to Nonprofits program, she has promoted corporate sponsorships, direct giving, pro bono work, and hands-on service, furthering opportunities for underrepresented voices through programs such as the firm’s I&B Council and a community college intern accelerator program.
Her leadership philosophy emphasizes authenticity, collaboration, and empowering others. Colleagues describe her as a leader who builds trust and lasting professional relationships, creating environments where individuals feel recognized and supported.
“Leadership is about inspiring others to reach their fullest potential by embracing the diversity of thought and experience that makes every team stronger. Surround yourself with a team whose strengths complement your own, creating a collective energy and outcome that’s far greater than any one individual could achieve.”
At the 2025 Icon Awards luncheon, attendees will hear honorees share their experiences in leadership, career growth, and building strong professional relationships. The conversations offer practical insights on navigating complex organizations while creating inclusive and forward-thinking workplaces.
