Sarah Flischel Among Five CPAs Recognized Nationally for Leading Audit Innovation

Boston, MA (August 21, 2025)—AAFCPAs is pleased to announce that Sarah Flischel, CPA, Director of Audit Transformation and Training, has been honored as a recipient of the 2025 AICPA Emerging Leaders Award. Sarah is among five CPAs nationally recognized for their extraordinary leadership, innovation, and commitment to supporting the next generation in the accounting profession.
These awards are presented annually in memory and to carry on the legacy of Maximo Mukelabai, a member of the first AICPA Leadership Academy class who passed away in 2011 at age 36. Sarah is a 2019 graduate of the Academy.
At AAFCPAs, Flischel leads the firm’s transition to a technology-enhanced, data-focused audit approach that provides deeper insights and strengthens decision-making for clients. She founded the Audit Transformation Community, a free resource for U.S.-based firms navigating new audit methodologies, and is a frequent speaker on audit innovation and professional development. Her volunteer work includes mentoring emerging CPAs and contributing to national and state accounting foundations. In 2025, Sarah was nominated to serve a three-year term on the Educational Foundation Board of Trustees for the Colorado Society of CPAs (COCPA). She is also an active Giving Circle Member for Denver Women in Business for Good and Rose Community Foundation Generation Now.
Additionally, in 2024, Sarah was recognized among the Top 50 Women in Accounting Award by Ignition, and she received AAFCPAs’ peer-nominated Innovation Award.
Based in Denver, Colorado, Flischel balances her professional achievements with a rich personal life, enjoying camping with her family, skiing, traveling, crafting, and cheering for the Denver Broncos and UCF Knights. Her leadership at AAFCPAs reflects the firm’s broader national reach and commitment to delivering forward-thinking, insight-driven solutions to clients across the country.
