Senior AI & Strategic Innovation Consultant
Ryan is a member of AAFCPAs’ Technology & Process Advisory practice and a leader in the firms consulting practice, specializing in AI, data analytics, RPA and strategic innovation. He also leads the firm’s Automation Center of Excellence, a team that streamlines automation, establishes structure, and scales processes. Ryan brings extensive expertise in analytics, robotic process automation (RPA), artificial intelligence (AI) prompting, and natural language processing policy and research. He excels in natural language prompting in AI models and has a strong understanding of various models and their best use cases.
Ryan works with clients to identify and evaluate processes suited for RPA. He leverages software robotics and emerging technology to replicate back-office tasks, such as data extraction, form filling, and file moving, while consistently seeking opportunities to automate processes both internally and externally. He also helps clients develop dashboarding solutions that integrate multiple data sources to deliver actionable insights. These solutions help clients eliminate repetitive tasks and free knowledge workers to focus on higher value activities.
In addition to his work for clients, Ryan evaluates, pilots, and implements new technologies for the firm to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Combining IT expertise with years of experience as a senior accountant and former auditor, he is well positioned to drive audit efficiency through technology and apply technical innovations to transform accounting.
In 2024, Ryan was recognized nationally with the CPA.com Digital CPA Innovative Practitioner Award, honoring his contributions to the field of accounting and the advancement of our profession. Ryan is a 2023 AAFCPAs’ peer-nominated Innovation Award recipient, recognized for proactively identifying efficiency and automation opportunities and leading process and workflow improvements. He volunteers as a navigator in AAFCPAs’ Professional Advancement & Development program, a one-year in-house incubator for early career professionals, and trains new hires on IT systems. A frequent speaker at industry conferences, he has presented at Caseware CwX, DCPA, and AAFCPAs’ Annual Nonprofit Seminar.
Ryan holds an MBA and a B.A. in Accounting and Finance from Assumption University. He is recognized for his innovative use of technology, positive approach, ability to communicate value, and contributions to firm-wide innovation initiatives. A native of Peabody, Massachusetts, he works to stay active year-round.
