Emily is a leader in AAFCPAs’ Business Transaction Advisory practice, guiding clients through complex buy-side and sell-side transactions and leading financial due diligence, quality of earnings analyses, and transaction structuring. Drawing on years of experience in mergers, acquisitions, and integrations, she provides steady guidance and strategic insight throughout the transaction lifecycle.
Emily ensures clients navigate transactions with confidence and clarity, helping eliminate surprises that can derail a deal and translating complex financial data into clear recommendations. Her expertise in financial statements, GAAP, and deal structures, combined with advanced proficiency in financial modeling, allows her to shape integration planning and due diligence analyses effectively.
Prior to returning to AAFCPAs, Emily served as director of financial reporting at a large Boston-based risk management and insurance brokerage, where she led the annual financial statement audit and served as the primary contact for external auditors, providing guidance on complex technical accounting and revenue recognition issues. In this role, she oversaw the accounting for more than 140 acquisitions, including purchase price allocations, earnout calculations, and integration planning, while collaborating across departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This experience sharpened her expertise in managing complex transactions and financial integrations, skills she now brings to AAFCPAs’ clients. Emily (Donnelly) began her career at AAFCPAs, highly regarded by clients, developing foundational expertise and advancing to the leadership role of audit engagement manager. She returned to AAFCPAs to contribute her M&A and financial reporting expertise to a firm she respects, drawn by its collaborative culture and the opportunity to support clients through complex transactions.
She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA and a BBA in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Outside of work, Emily enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and two children.
