David S. McLaren, CPA, CGMA, CRFAC, ABGOV, RFI, CRFAU
Partner, Forensic and Business Valuation
David is a leader in AAFCPAs’ forensic accounting practice, serving as a trusted advisor to business owners and organizations. He specializes in forensic accounting and fraud examinations along with litigation support and expert testimony. As artificial intelligence becomes more embedded in business operations, forensic accounting plays an increasingly critical role for clients seeking clarity, accountability, and defensible analysis in complex financial matters. Beyond this, David is recognized for his work in business valuations and profitability analysis.
David founded and led the award-winning firm McLaren & Associates, CPAs PC, for more than 20 years prior to its acquisition by AAFCPAs in January 2026, having earned repeated recognition for excellence in forensic accounting, business advisory services, and leadership, as well as distinction as a trusted influence in the regional business community.
He is a seasoned CPA who advises business owners on strategies to minimize tax liability and navigate complex tax laws with proactive planning and deep industry knowledge. His forensic accounting skills uncover lost, hidden, or misreported assets, providing clarity and strong support in litigation, divorce, and estate matters when financial precision truly matters. David also excels in business valuations, delivering accurate, forensic-informed valuations that empower clients in sales, purchases, transitions, and dispute resolution. With this blend of tax strategy, investigative accounting, and valuation insight, he equips clients in making smarter decisions that protect financial interests.
David’s advanced professional credentials—including CPA, CGMA, CRFAC, ABGOV, RFI, and CRFAU—reflect rigorous training in taxation, forensic accounting, governance, and valuation, giving clients confidence that their most complex financial matters are handled with technical depth, objectivity, and defensible expertise.
When he’s not at the office, David enjoys time with his adult daughter, Lisa, his wife Kim, and their children, Sophia, Emma, and Max.
