From the Desk of Kevin Hodson
As summer winds down and routines pick back up, we’re seeing the same shift in the markets—a return to activity and volatility after a relatively quiet season. September often brings movement, and this year is no exception. Between geopolitical developments and an upcoming Federal Reserve meeting, there’s a lot in play that could impact portfolios.
The Fed’s next decision on interest rates is expected to come mid-September. For the first time in a year, there’s real anticipation of a rate cut. If it happens, it could ripple across stocks, bonds, real estate—nearly every corner of the financial landscape. If it doesn’t, markets may react sharply. Either way, we’re watching closely and preparing to adjust portfolios to help clients stay ahead of the curve.
At AAF Wealth Management, we’re also thinking beyond the headlines. We’re exploring new planning strategies and investment ideas that can help clients, especially those with more complex needs, reduce volatility and stay on track. The goal is simple: smoother rides, smart diversification, and plans that reflect your full picture.
Outside the office, I’ve been spending time with my daughter as her travel softball season kicks back into gear. The schedule is intense, but it’s great to see her doing what she loves. We also discovered that our bulldog, Harley, has a surprising love for water. She’s become a regular at the lake, splashing around like she was born for it (despite her short legs and questionable buoyancy).
If any of this sounds familiar—whether it’s the pace of fall, family sports schedules, or just trying to stay ahead of change—I’d always enjoy hearing what’s been on your mind.
