Lucy Van Laarhoven, CPA
Lucy is an experienced financial professional and a senior member of AAFCPAs’ Managed Accounting Solutions (MAS) practice. She provides high-level, outsourced CFO services designed to optimize the modern finance function, and efficiently address our clients’ most critical financial processes. Lucy has 25+ years of experience providing meaningful financial analysis and business insights to privately-held companies, including early-stage technology companies.
Lucy assists clients with short-term and long-term planning, goal setting, and removing barriers to meet these goals. She is well-versed in the challenges and opportunities facing entrepreneurs, and an invaluable and trusted source of financial guidance as an extended member of client management teams. She provides hands-on advice and counsel on areas critical to success, including: financial forecasts and modeling; financial analysis; budget preparation, reporting, and monitoring; training and management of accounting staff; software selection & implementation; and establishment of efficient business processes and strong financial controls to mitigate fraud and error risks and increase profits.
Lucy provides AAFCPAs’ start-up clients with a clear vision of their cash runway and provides guidance on timing and options for raising more funding, either through debt or equity. She skillfully manages clients’ financial relationships with banks, venture capital and private equity firms, insurance agents, attorneys, auditors and tax advisors. She provides accurate and timely key financial metrics and financial statements to meet reporting requirements and provides strategic advice on hiring, financial systems and process upgrades, and spending reductions.
Lucy provides clients with financial management assistance on complex technical accounting issues, such as: revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity accounting, leases, and accounting for business combinations and purchase price allocations. She strategically guides clients through financial due diligence of buy- or sell-side mergers & acquisitions, including analysis or preparation of historical financial statements and related financial metrics, as well as assessing the reasonableness of the projections of future performance. Her preparedness helps ensure transactions go smoothly and quickly, serving the best interests of both parties.
