AAFCPAs Celebrates 2020 National Health Center Week

Next week, August 9-15, 2020, is National Health Center Week, and AAFCPAs invites you to join us again this year in celebrating the great work and significant impact of these consumer-driven and patient-centered organizations!

This year, our nation’s Community Health Center employees are on the frontlines of COVID-19. Since the pandemic struck, Community Health Centers in rural and urban areas across the nation have massively pivoted to fight the virus and protect communities. They expanded telehealth and launched drive-through and curbside testing sites, delivering 160,000 COVID tests per week.¹CHCs will also be critical to providing primary and urgent care to America’s laid-off and now uninsured as they navigate their new health care realities.

The 2020 National Health Center Week theme is “Community Health Centers: Lighting the Way for Healthier Communities Today and in the Future”

Community Health Centers serve as the beacon of strength, service, and care in their communities. In moments of pain and loss, they offer support and love. In moments of triumph, they offer hope and a vision for the future. Please join AAFCPAs this week to celebrate the roles Community Health Centers have played in both our recent moments of loss and triumph.

This National Health Center Week honors those front-line providers, staff, and beloved patients who lost their lives during the (ongoing) COVID-19 pandemic. During this week of remembrance, light a candle for those community health leaders, and patients that we lost. As we commemorate those lives and celebrate the future of Community Health, let’s shine a light across the country that will embody the future of primary health care access for underserved populations.
