Alexander, Aronson, Finning & Co., P.C. (AAF) is committed to keeping you informed of the latest news alerts. An e-mail scam has developed that can put you and your organization at risk if not handled correctly.
Fraudulent e-mails are being written by what look to be established, trusted agencies and companies such as the IRS and national banks. These e-mails use legitimate logos to look official and earn your trust; however, they can compromise your business and personal information.
Please be aware that you should use caution when confronted with any e-mail that asks for personal information. Items that should raise red flags include e-mails that request items such as your:
Social security number,
Credit card information,
Bank account number,
Username or password,
Drivers license number,
Birthday, or
Mother's maiden name.
If you receive an e-mail of this type and have any questions on its validity, please do not provide your personal or business information. Please call the organization the letter appears to be from (ex. the IRS) by visiting the official website of that organization to find the phone number. Please do not use a phone number or any other contact method directly from the questionable e-mail.
Staying aware of e-mail scams will put you at ease and keep your private information in tact. You are welcome to forward this e-mail to your friends and colleagues to keep them informed and aware of the consequences.
Sincerely,
Your Friends at Alexander, Aronson, Finning & Co.
